Frequently asked questions
Do I need a KvK number or an accountant?
No. The personal income tax return works without a KvK and without an accountant. You only need your BSN and your income details.
Is it free?
The wizard and the refund calculation are free. Filing is a one-time purchase of €49 (Box 1) or €79 (adds Box 2 and Box 3). No subscription.
Can I still file my 2025 return?
Yes. The 2025 tax year is filed in 2026 (deadline 1 May, or 1 September with an extension). If you were not required to file, you can file voluntarily up to 5 years back to claim a refund.
Can I file directly with the Belastingdienst?
Yes. You file your full return directly via Digipoort, or download the XBRL file to upload it yourself in Mijn Belastingdienst.
What if Taxmo makes a calculation error?
Accuracy guarantee: if a Taxmo calculation error leads to a Belastingdienst penalty, we refund your filing fee and cover the penalty up to €500.
What does the Box 3 actual return statement (OWR) cost?
€39 one-time per year (2017-2024). If your actual Box 3 return was lower than the deemed return, report it and reclaim overpaid tax; Taxmo builds the official statement and files it directly.
